The 2016 Christmas Fair finished this year’s PTA events off with a bang! We raised £2,930, which is a fantastic amount and will be put towards any number of good causes that the PTA helps to fund (including equipment, trips, books and more).
This year, there were a number of new features (eg, sweetie cones, candy floss, magic mirror, Thai curry, guess the crisp flavour!), as well as everyone’s old favourites (eg, tombolas, gift stall, crafts). We decided to rejig the layout, allowing for seating in the main hall, which seemed to be very well received. In another departure from the norm, we had Santa doing a “meet & greet”, handing out chocolates and drawing the raffle. Everyone’s favourite compere, Steve Bowbrick, kept people alert to the new stalls and deals (“everything 50p in the gift shop!”), the Borehamwood Brass Band provided a quintessentially Christmassy soundtrack, and the school choir sang beautifully.
There was a great atmosphere throughout and it was a wonderful example of how this lovely school community comes together. A huge thanks from the PTA for all the support from parents, staff and pupils in ensuring that the fair was a brilliant – and profitable! – event.
Our next event is the live music and curry night on Friday 27 January. Tickets go on sale the first week back in January, so save the date and then spread the word. It’ll be a great way to finish off the traditionally gloomy January!
