Harvest Festival

Thank you to all the parents, carers, staff and pupils who donated to the Harvest Festival.  We collected lots of tins, packets, and boxes of food.  In addition we also collected toiletries for families.  Our Harvest gifts were donated to Borehamwood Foodbank and Kim from the Foodbank kindly visited the children in assembly to tell them more about the service the Foodbank provides.  For more information: https://borehamwood.foodbank.org.uk/...

Year 5 Litter Patrol

Hello my name is Tobi Faleye, I am in class 5T and I am more than happy to do litter patrol. I decided to help because I wanted to be a helpful student and help the community out. I would like to say a thank you to Eshan Lakhani in 5T also because he offered to help me out and it is much quicker and easy for the job to be done with more pairs of hands. However, we are sure that we wont be needed for too much longer as all the pupils join us on the litter picking...

A very successful Ofsted!

We are delighted to receive an overall good outcome with some areas identified as outstanding in our recent (July 2017) Ofsted visit.  Personal development, behaviour and welfare was judged to be outstanding. The Ofsted team praised the students as ambassadors of the school and highlighted the pride they took in showing their work. They were impressed with the staff’s knowledge of individual pupils, their personalised needs and the support we provide the children with academically and emotionally.  They were particularly impressed with our record keeping and the care this enabled us to provide the children with. Please see report below. Fair Field Junior Ofsted...

Sunny summer fair raises over £2,500!

The 2017 Summer Fair was full of sunshine and fun – and we raised over £2,500! This fantastic amount of money will be put towards the many different things that the PTA helps to fund (including equipment, trips, books and more). As an example, the PTA has committed to paying for essential repairs to playground equipment over the summer holidays. The day dawned slightly overcast, but went on to become gloriously sunny. This year, there were a number of new features (eg, photo booth and cream teas), as well as everyone’s old favourites (eg, tombolas, gift stall and crafts). We were keen to encourage people to enjoy the space fully, so situated the BBQ and bar on the grass, near the trees, with lots of seating in the shade, which worked really well. Everyone’s favourite compere, Steve Bowbrick, kept people alert to the new stalls and deals, the Borehamwood Brass Band provided a jaunty summery vibe, the gym club flipped their way impressively around the hall floor, and the school choir sang beautifully. There was a great atmosphere throughout and it was a wonderful example of how this lovely school community comes together. A huge thanks from the PTA for all the support from parents, staff and pupils in ensuring that the fair was a brilliant – and profitable! –...

Radlett Library Summer Reading Mystery

Louise, From Radlett Library, came to school to tell us all about the Hertfordshire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge. We had a wonderful assembly full of favourite books and information on how to take part in the summer event. This year, the theme is mystery. Children need to read six books of their choice to complete their mystery booklet. With smelly stickers and character information for each book read. The challenge starts on Saturday, 15th July and runs all through the summer holiday. For more information and to register, go to Radlett or Borehamwood...

The Year 4 children brought the most items in for the summer fair this year. Over 200 sweets, bottles, chocolates and other items for the stalls were collected. Their prize was an additional non-uniform day, which took place on...

Sports Day 2017 by Sanika Vadera 5F

On Tuesday 27th June 2017, Fair Field Junior School had their sports day. Children played a part in all kinds of sports like: tug of war, novelty, relay and lots more. Red house came first overall with the most points. After an amazing morning, we went back into our class and had a cooling ice-lolly. In our classrooms we all did sports related things. It was finally lunchtime. We were all starving as we had run fast and had got all sweaty. One of my classmates said, “Finally lunch, I’m so hungry, I’m going to burst!” Later in the day, the School Sports Organising Crew (SSOC) set up for an exciting afternoon full of gymnastics, netball and speed stacking. We had fantastic leaders. In speed stacking, we had two great players who set an example to the younger pupils. All the energetic children swapped over so that all of the players would get a chance at every activity. It was a Sportastic...

£300 raised to support Grenfell families

A huge thank you to all of the parents and children who contributed to raising money to support the families and victims of the Grenfell Tower fire. We raised £300 which is fantastic! That money will go directly to support those who have been affected.
