Gymnastics success!

On Sunday 4th March, 45 gymnasts from Radlett Gym Club travelled to Ware to compete in the Affinity Invitational, a floor and trampette competition aimed at general gymnasts who only train a few hours a week. This was the first gymnastics competition ever for the majority of our gymnasts, and they did us proud. Overall we had a very successful day, coming away with 6 Gold Medals, 5 Silvers and 6 Bronzes, as well as many 4th place finishes.   In the Bronze category, Radlett’s gymnasts did a fantastic job, taking 12 medals between them, including 5 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes! Medals from Fairfield and St John’s pupils were as follows: Gold on Floor – Finn Hulbert; Gold on Trampette – Alex Smith; Silver on Floor – Cecilie Suitters; Silver on Trampette – Finn Hulbert; Bronze on Trampette – Joshua Smith; Bronze on Floor – Alex Smith; Bronze on Trampette – Anisia Belghiru; Bronze on Trampette – Olivia Stafford.   In the Silver category, we came away with 1 silver and 1 bronze, the bronze won on Trampette by Scarlett Mackulin-Mcmahon, in a very tough round of competition. In the Gold category, Radlett earned a gold on floor with Harley Morris taking the medal and a bronze on floor and a silver medal on Trampette both won by Jessica Justin, in yet another challenging round.   Head Coach Helene and coaches Philippa and Jenny were thrilled by the results and performances from all gymnasts, especially as they missed their final week of training due to the snow and class cancellations. Well done to all who took part!...

Magical Harry Potter

As part of our Flashbackwriting English unit, year 6 were lucky enough to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour yesterday. Year 6 had studied a variety of scenes from both the written and film versions of Harry Potter, while analysing how flashbacks can be shown in different media.  This trip was an excellent chance for them to see many elements of the film come to life. While at the studio tour, the children were able to see over 14,000 real items, cotumes and props from the films. To make this trip even more special, we visited during the ‘Hogwarts in the Snow’ season, which sees the whole studio decorated for Christmas. Some of their favourite moments from the day included: seeing the Great Hall, which was set up for a Christmas feast; getting the opportunity to board The Hogwarts Express; completing the broomstick riding experience; and a chance to see how fire and snow are made in the films. Not forgetting the spiders… The Forbidden Forest was especially exciting for...

Learning about Owls!

In Year 6, we have had a fantastic afternoon of investigative Science. Today we analysed Barn Owl pellets in order to determine the bird’s diet.
