Bringing History To Life

This week, Year 3 took part in a hands-on role play experience designed to help them understand what life was like during the Bronze Age.
Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Haque created a realistic setting that transported the children back in time, encouraging them to think about how people lived without modern technology or comforts. The children worked together to chop wood, build shelters, and use basic survival skills. They gathered around a fire to share stories and reflect on how communities might have passed down knowledge and traditions.
Using charcoal from the fire, they also created cave-style drawings, exploring how early humans used art to communicate and express themselves.
The experience gave the children a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in the Bronze Age and how people relied on cooperation, creativity, and resilience to get by. It was wonderful to see the awe and wonder on the children's faces.
