Chinese New year Assembly

Today, we held a special assembly to celebrate Chinese New Year, planned and led by some of our children who celebrate with their families.
The children did a fantastic job sharing their knowledge, experiences and traditions with the rest of the school. They explained the meaning behind Chinese New Year, how families prepare for the celebrations, and why this festival is such an important time of year. We learnt about cleaning homes to welcome good luck, enjoying reunion dinners with family, giving and receiving red envelopes, and watching colourful dragon and lion dances.
The children also shared which zodiac animal represents this year and what it symbolises. It was wonderful to see them speak so confidently and proudly about their heritage, and to see the rest of the school listening so respectfully and with great interest.
Assemblies like this are a powerful reminder of the rich diversity within our school community. We are very proud of the children who led the assembly and grateful to them for helping us all learn something new.
